Who We Are

The Food Security and Resilience Group (FSRG) is based at Tulane University’s Celia Scott Weatherhead School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine (WSPH), which has earned a world-class reputation for its leadership in capacity building, sustainable development, and resilience, and for its capabilities to conduct high-quality research.  Our team combines a wide range of technical expertise, advanced research skills, and practical experience critical to evaluating complex global challenges related to food, health, nutrition, and livelihoods that affect vulnerable populations in low- and middle-income countries.

Our Expertise and Approach

  • We work across different regions of the world and sectors to address challenges related to food, health, and nutrition in fragile contexts.
  • Our team has a unique history of fostering sustainable development and resilience goals, focusing on populations living in poverty and experiencing food insecurity.
  • We maintain deep, long-standing partnerships with research institutions and specialists in the countries where we work, prioritizing capacity strengthening and collaborative solutions to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable populations worldwide.

What We Do

  • We employ advanced quantitative and qualitative analytical capabilities to carry out impact, performance, and formative evaluations of resilience, food security, livelihood, and nutrition programs.
  • We use evidence-based research findings to inform program design and implementation, policy development, and operational improvements for humanitarian assistance and sustainable development activities in food-deficient countries.
  • Our team collaborates with governments, non-governmental organizations, private-sector institutions, and communities to identify and implement innovative, contextually relevant solutions that build community and institutional capacity.
